I am a Kindergarten teacher in Massachusetts licensed for grades Pre-k through Grade 2. This is my seventh year teaching and my fifth year teaching Kindergarten. I began teaching in a private preschool and after receiving my bachelors degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst I moved on to public schools. I taught in three different large cities and am now in a smaller, more rural town. I have a graduate degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and a passion for teaching the language of English and embracing and celebrating all cultures. I absolutely love teaching Kindergarten :)
I chose to begin my teaching career in an urban setting for many reasons. Although I knew it would be difficult, after completing my student teaching in Springfield and Greenfield Massachusetts (two areas with higher poverty levels), I fell in love with the energy and personality my students brought to the classroom despite the challenges they may face every single day at home. Every student needs attention and effective teaching, but many of these students also need role models, routine, and loving stability.Their persistence with life and contagious happiness bring meaning to my every day and give me the energy to be the best teacher I can be!
