Check out the classroom!
Here's a panorama of the room: my favorite part about it is its awkward shape and brick wall! So cozy!
My desk doubles as an awesome way to help kids spell my name! 🤣
This poster hangs by the front door and can be seen from anywhere in the room. Each day, during morning meeting, I read this poster to the kids to remind them of how much I love and believe in them and to review just how capable they are!
The Library 💛 Though it takes up some valuable space in our tiny classroom jammed with kindergartners, it provides a safe, secluded, and comfortable space for children. Here, while most use it for reading and browsing books, some children use it to calm down, take some needed space, or cuddle a stuffed animal friend until they are ready to join the rest of the classroom for their day.
A view from the whole group lesson area towards the work tables.
Our calendar center at the rug. Up above you can see I have covered the alphabet letters with pieces of construction paper.... one of my favorite activities for the beginning of the year! As we become an expert on a new letter, we make guesses as to which picture may be hiding behind the paper. Gives me a chance to do some quick assessment on how well the children understand the letter and relation to its sound and is so exciting for the kids!
Sight word rolling cart
(under each letter I place labeled sight word library pockets containing 3-4 popsicle stick versions of the word. The students are to come up to the wall during writing, take the word they need, and return to their seat to write it. It works WONDERS)
Wow work board with clothes pins to easily hang and replace student work!
